Two Bridge Replacement Projects to Begin in September

TxDOT

Beginning Tuesday, September 4, 2018, Dilly Shaw Tap Road (CR 121) at Cedar Creek in Brazos County will be closed to replace the existing bridge. This closure is expected to last until March 2019.

Signs will be placed on Dilly Shaw Tap road at the intersection of Jack Creek and Fickey Roads showing that the road is closed one mile ahead. All through traffic will be detoured around this closure to FM 2038 and FM 974. TxDOT realizes that this will be an inconvenience to motorists and local residents during this closure, however, the replacement bridge will be more quickly and easily constructed and reopened to traffic.

Also on September 4th, the bridge over Town Branch on Scasta Lane (CR 117) will be closed to replace the existing bridge structure. This closure is expected to last until April 2019. There will be an on-site detour provided at the bridge. Traffic will be rerouted to the north side of and around the construction.

These new structures will be wider and will meet current design and safety standards. The current bridges are narrow allowing only one lane of traffic. The new bridges will be 24’-wide providing two travel lanes.

Both of these $773,000 bridge replacement projects are contracted to Project Allied Resources, LLC, of Bellaire and are expected to take nine months to complete. TxDOT and their contractor appreciate everyone’s patience during this construction.
