On Thursday, June 28th, the Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) contractor will re-open both ramps on the north side of FM 60 at FM 2818:
· FM 2818 Southbound Exit Ramp to FM 60
· FM 2818 Northbound Entrance Ramp from FM 60
The contractor will then close both ramps on the south side of the interchange:
· FM 2818 Northbound Exit Ramp to FM 60
· FM 2818 Southbound Entrance Ramp from FM 60
Southbound traffic can access FM 60 East and West by exiting onto the newly constructed southbound ramp to the temporary signal which will allow left turns toward campus. Detours for FM 60 traffic wanting to go south on FM 2818 and for FM 2818 northbound traffic wanting to get onto FM 60 will be signed using SH 47 and FM 1179 (Villa Maria Road).
Closure of these ramps will allow for faster and safer construction and provide a better roadway product. The accelerated construction methods will allow the contractor to complete the major interchange work and get to the diverging diamond interchange (DDI) configuration before the students return to the A&M Campus in August.
This work is part of the construction of the new DDI (diverging diamond interchange) which is one of only three in the State of Texas. This project is contracted to Knife River Corporation-South for $14.1 million. The project is expected to be complete in the Spring of 2019. TxDOT and their contractor appreciate everyone’s patience during this construction.
